MANILA, Philippines – The digitally restored and remastered version of the iconic 1982 film Himala is now streaming on Netflix.

Starring National Artist Nora Aunor in one of her most iconic roles, Himala tells the story of a small-town girl named Elsa who, after witnessing an apparition of the Virgin Mary, gains the power to heal the people in her community. 

Word about her powers spreads, and the hysteria around her grows, changing her town and her life forever.

Directed by Ishmael Bernal and written by Ricky Lee, it premiered at the 1982 Metro Manila Film Festival, where it was named Best Film and Nora was named Best Actress. 

The film has since screened at the Berlin International Film Festival and the Venice International Film Festival, and has been turned into a stage musical.
