'Disenchanted' takes place 10 years after 'Enchanted'

Two-time Emmy winner, Saturday Night Live comedian, and actress Maya Rudolph has reportedly been tapped to join Disenchanted, the sequel to the 2007 Disney movie Enchanted.

Deadline, citing sources, said Rudolph, Community’s Yvette Nicole Brown, and Glee’s Jayma Mays will be joining original cast members Idina Menzel, Amy Adams, and James Marsden.

Adam Shankman is set to direct Disenchanted with Alan Menken as the film’s composer. They will be joined by producers Barry Josephson, Sunil Perkash, and Barry Sonnenfeld, and writer Richard LaGravenese.

Disenchanted is set 10 years after the ending of the first movie, as Giselle (Adams) begins to question her happiness, leading to an unintentional twist in the lives of those in the real world and in the fictional kingdom of Andalasia.

The 2007 musical rom-com mixed both animation and live-action, and grossed more than $340 million worldwide. It was nominated for 3 Oscars in the Best Original Song category for “Happy Working Song,” “So Close,” and “That’s How You Know.”

Disenchanted will premiere on Disney+. A release date has yet to be confirmed. – with reports from Aloe Ynion/Rappler.com
