WATCH: Dwayne Johnson plays a super dog in 'DC League of Super-Pets'

DC Comics and Seven Bucks Productions unveiled on Wednesday, June 9, a new teaser for the upcoming animated superhero film DC League of Super-Pets.

Actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who stars as a super-powered dog in the film, also shared the teaser.

The twenty-second teaser showcases Johnson as Krypto the Superdog, a heroic canine who is Superman’s pet in the comic books published by DC Comics.

“The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change,” the retired professional wrestler wrote in his social media posts.

Johnson is joined by a star-studded cast with Kevin Hart (The Secret Life of Pets), Keanu Reeves (John Wick), Kate McKinnon (Ferdinand), John Krasinski (A Quiet Place), Vanessa Bayer (NBC’s Saturday Night Live), Natasha Lyonne (Netflix’s Orange is the New Black), and Diego Luna (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story).

DC League of Super-Pets is based on the comic book superhero team of the same name, which made up of the super-powered animal sidekicks of DC superheroes.

The upcoming film focuss on Superman’s dog Krypto and Batman’s dog Ace the Bat-Hound, voiced by Hart. 

DC League of Super-Pets will be written and directed by Jared Stern, who served as one of the writers in The Lego Batman Movie. Sam Levine, one of the minds behind the Disney series Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero, will be co-directing.

Alongside Warner Animation Group and DC Films, the film will be produced by Seven Bucks Productions, a company that was co-founded by Johnson in 2012. 

First announced in 2018, the film is currently pushing for a May 2022 release in US theaters. – with reports from John Patrick Magno Ranara /
