Warner Bros released on Monday, March 15, two new trailers for its upcoming film In the Heights, a movie adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Broadway musical of the same name.
The film stars Anthony Ramos as Usnavi, a bodega owner who "saves every penny from his daily grind as he hopes, imagines, and sings about a better life." The ensemble cast also features Corey Hawkins, Leslie Grace, Melissa Barrera, Olga Merediz, Stephanie Beatriz, and Jimmy Smits.
Most of the movie was shot in New York, primarily in Washington Heights, where the fictional story is also set.
The movie is directed by Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians) with a screenplay by Quiara Alegria Hudes, the original musical's book writer. Miranda produced the movie and has a supporting role as "Piragua Guy."
Warner Bros earlier dropped a series of posters on Saturday, March 13.
The first official trailer was released in December 2019 before the film was postponed due to COVID-19. In the Heights is now scheduled for a June 18 release, primarily via HBO Max. Warner Bros has yet to announce a Philippine release date. – with reports from Jewel Camacho/Rappler.com
