Kit Thompson named best actor at WorldFest Houston International Film Festival

Kit Thompson won best actor in the Panorama Asia at the 54th WorldFest Houston International Film Festival.

Kit was awarded for his performance in the 2019 film Belle Douleur. The festival itself announced his win in an April 27 Facebook post, saying that Kit’s “charming performance” in the film “was easy to fall in love with.”

He won the title over fellow nominees, Japan’s Hideyuki Kawahara and Yuh Kamiya, who starred in the film Sin-Gone Irony.

Meanwhile, his Belle Douleur co-star Mylene Dizon was nominated as best actress under Panorama Asia, though the title ultimately went to Japan’s Nao Hasegawa, star of the film Beautiful Lure.

Belle Douleur is about a 45-year-old psychologist (Mylene) who begins a steamy romance with a 20-year-old musician (Kit). The film was directed by Joji Alonso, and premiered at the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, where it won the Audience Choice award.
