The film introduces us to the Silicon valley professionals who changed the way we experience the internet. It explores the ethical questions of social media and its impact on individuals.
The film follows Tristan Harris, co-founder of the Center for Humane Technology who was previously featured on Rappler. It raises important questions about social media addiction that was crafted by design from large tech companies to keep people on their platforms.
For the next episode of the #HoldTheLine Directors Series, Maria Ressa interviews Jeff Orlowski, the director of The Social Dilemma. They talk about his film's vision, the creative process, and his experience as a documentary filmmaker covering tough topics.
Before The Social Dilemma, Orlowski had covered topics like climate change in his award-winning documentaries Chasing Ice and Chasing Coral. Orlowski is also the founder of Exposure Labs, a production company dedicated to creating films with impact. It was under this company that the 3 films were produced
