The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) announced on Friday, July 17, the first 4 official entries for its 2020 edition – which seems to be pushing through despite the coronavirus pandemic.

The films were selected based on submitted scripts. MMFF organizers will later announce 4 other entries – finished films that will round out the festival's so-called Magic 8.
MMFF is traditionally held in December, and is meant to promote Filipino films, with no foreign films being shown in cinemas throughout the festival.
While organizers have yet to announce a cancellation, it is unclear how the festival will push through this year with cinemas closed throughout the pandemic.
