Metro Manila Film Festival announces 8 official entries for 2022

MANILA, Philippines – The line-up is finally in! Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) announced the eight official film entries for its 2022 edition on Thursday, October 20.

The Filipino films participating in the 48th Metro Manila Film Festival are:

• Deleter, directed by Mikhail Red and starring Nadine Lustre, McCoy De Leon, and Louise delos Reyes
• Family Matters, directed by Nuel Naval and starring Noel Trinidad and Liza Lorena
• Mamasapano: Now It Can Be Told produced by lawyer Ferdinand Topacio and starring Edu Manzano, JC De Vera, Aljur Abrenica
• My Father, Myself starring Jake Cuenca and Dimples Romana
• Labyu with an Accent starring Coco Martin and Jodi Sta. Maria
• Nanahimik ang Gabi starring Ian Veneracion and Heaven Peralejo
• Partners in Crime starring Vice Ganda and Ivana Alawi
• My Teacher starring Toni Gonzaga and Joey De Leon

The first four films are finished film formats chosen among a record high of 22 submissions, while the last four films on the list were already approved in July based on script submissions.

MMFF’s Selection Committee Head Boots Anson-Rodrigo, along with the rest of the members, chose this year’s top eight films based on the criteria of artistic excellence, commercial appeal, Filipino cultural values, and global appeal.

This year’s MMFF, with its theme of Balik Saya sa MMFF 2022, will run from December 25, 2022 to January 7, 2023 in theaters nationwide. The festival’s awarding ceremony, Gabi Ng Parangal, will be held on December 27.

This will be the second time for the MMFF to return to cinemas, after 2020’s edition ran online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. – Rappler.com
