In the first teaser trailer released on Wednesday, September 8, DiCaprio and Lawrence’s characters, “low-level astronomers” Dr. Randall Mindy and Kate Dibiasky, respectively, discover that a comet is headed directly towards Earth. As they try to warn others about the collision, no one seems to believe them.

The 90-second clip also features the rest of the star-studded cast including Meryl Steep, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Jonah Hill, Rob Morgan, Ron Perlman, Scott Mescudi, Cate Blanchett, and Tyler Perry.

Don’t Look Up is written and directed by Adam McKay.

According to Entertainment Weekly, McKay said the role had been written for Lawrence,“She was the first actor in.”

The filmmaker said they used a lot of time during the pandemic going through the script and talking about DiCaprio’s character. “He’s really smart, he really knows movies, he knows movie history, he understands characters, and it was very enjoyable.”

Don’t Look Up is set to premiere via select theaters on December 10 and stream on Netflix on December 24.  – Rappler.com
