Shawn Mendes documentary ‘In Wonder’ heads to Netflix

Singer and songwriter Shawn Mendes is set to star in his own Netflix documentary, In Wonder, which premieres on the streaming service on November 23, 2020.

Mendes revealed the news on his Twitter account on Wednesday, October 14. “Been working on this documentary for so long and am so excited to finally share it with you all,” the 22-year-old musician tweeted.

The documentary is another addition to Netflix’s catalog of celebrity documentaries, which includes films on Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Travis Scott, and BLACKPINK.

Netflix describes the upcoming documentary as “intimate, heartfelt, and inspiring” on their official website. Footage was shot over the past few years, and will provide a more in-depth look at Mendes’ life and career. Clips from his 2019 tour are also expected to be incorporated into the film.

Music video veteran Grant Singer is directing the film, while Saul Germaine and James Haygood are producing. Mendes, Andrew Gertler, and Ben Winston serve as executive producers. 

Since his major label debut in 2014, Mendes has released 3 studio albums and multiple hits to his belt. The singer is best known for songs like “Stitches,” “Treat You Better,” “In My Blood,” and the Camila Cabello-assisted “Señorita.”

The release of the documentary precedes Mendes’ 4th studio album, Wonder, which comes out on December 4. The title track was released as a promotional single earlier this month. – with reports from Jericho Igdanes/Rappler.com
