Sony Pictures has confirmed that a Metal Gear Solid movie adaptation is on its way, with Star Wars actor Oscar Isaac starring as lead protagonist Solid Snake.

According to a Deadline report, the film adaptation of the hit video game will be helmed by director Jordan Vogt-Roberts. The script will be written by Derek Connolly, while Avi Arad will be producing.

Isaac is best known for his role as Poe Dameron in the recent Star Wars trilogy. He will also be playing Duke Leto Atreides in the upcoming film reboot of Dune.

No production timeline or release date for Metal Gear Solid has been confirmed yet.

Konami’s Metal Gear Solid game, which was created by Hideo Kojima, was released for the PlayStation in 1998. The action-adventure-stealth game centers around special forces operative Solid Snake, who has to infiltrate a nuclear weapons facility in order to stop a terrorist attack by Foxhound, a rebel special forces unit. – Rappler.com
