The upcoming third horror flick of 'Get Out' director Peele will star Daniel Kaluuya, Steven Yeun, and Keke Palmer

Academy Award-winning writer and director Jordan Peele shared on Thursday, July 21, the first movie poster for his upcoming horror-thriller movie Nope, as well as the film’s official cast.

The dark, gritty film poster features an ominously dark cloud hovering over a small city, dangling what seems to be a kite flag tail. Nope confirms and teases Peele’s reunion with Daniel Kaluuya, who starred in Peele’s debut breakthrough film Get Out, which handed Kaluuya an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor in 2021.

The British actor portrayed W’Kabi in Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther film in 2018 and Black Panther Party leader Fred Hampton in 2021’s Judas and the Black Messiah, which won him an Academy Award.

Joining Kaluuya are Scream Queens actress Keke Palmer and Minari and The Walking Dead star Steven Yeun, who was already in talks to work with Peele in April 2021.

Nope will also feature Euphoria’s Barbie Ferreira, Dance Camp’s Brandon Perea, and The Crow’s Michael Wincott, according to a Hollywood Reporter report. No roles have been set yet.

The upcoming “new terror” film will be produced by Peele’s own production company, Monkeypaw Productions, as part of an exclusive five-year overall feature agreement with Universal Pictures. The mystery-horror flick is expected to be the long-awaited follow-up to his sophomore psychological thriller Us.

Nope is set to be Peele’s third full-length feature film after the success of his first two critically-acclaimed movies Get Out and Us, which premiered in 2017 and 2019, respectively.

Peele’s latest project was Candyman, Nia DeCosta’s supernatural slasher film, of which he wrote the screenplay alongside Win Rosenfeld. It is a sequel to the hit 1992 cult classic film of the same name.

No other details about Nope, including its plot, have been revealed. It is expected to hit US theaters on July 22, 2022. – with reports from Paolo Alejandrino/Rappler.com
