The 'Resident Evil' reboot stars Kaya Scodelario, Tom Hopper, and Hannah John-Kamen as survivors fighting against zombies and Umbrella Corp

Get ready for another round of bloodthirsty zombies, because the official trailer of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is here, and by the looks of it, Raccoon City is in deep trouble once again.

The trailer for the reboot was released on YouTube on Thursday, October 7. In the dying town of Raccoon City, a band of survivors race against time and flesh-eating zombies as they uncover the mystery behind pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation. The adrenaline-pumping trailer features a haunting rendition of the 4 Non Blondes hit, “What’s Up?”

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City stars Kaya Scodelario (Skins, Maze Runner), Hannah John-Kamen (Game of Thrones, Ant-Man and The Wasp), Robbie Amell (The Flash), Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy), and Avan Jogia (Victorious). It is directed and written by Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down, The Other Side of The Door).

The Resident Evil reboot comes five years after the release of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter in 2016, the last installment of the Resident Evil franchise starring Milla Jovovich as protagonist Alice.

Resident Evil is based on the Japanese action-horror video game of the same name. Amid biological weapons and viral incidents, different characters fight for their lives to survive. The first Resident Evil movie was released in 2002. – Patrick Miguel/Rappler.com
