An animated film adaptation of The Great Gatsby is now in the works with the same studio that worked on Christopher Nolan’s most recent film Tenet.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will be produced by DNEG Feature Animation, and directed by William Joyce. It will be written by Brian Selznick, writer and illustrator of the book The Invention of Hugo Cabret.
The 1925 novel by F Scott Fitzgerald comments on the hedonism of the jazz age as it tells the story of a mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby, known for throwing lavish parties at his mansion on Long Island. Gatsby eventually begins an affair with his married former lover Daisy Buchanan, setting off a chain of events that end in disaster.
The novel has been adapted for the stage and screen many times, notably in 1974 with Robert Redford as Gatsby and Mia Farrow as Daisy.
The most recent adaptation of the novel was directed by Baz Luhrmann, with Leonardo di Caprio as Gatsby and Carey Mulligan as Daisy.
A release date for the animated feature has yet to be announced. – Rappler.com
