Christina Ricci has joined The Matrix 4, Variety reports.

The casting news came from an updated press kit released by Warner Bros, but no details about her character in the sci-fi film have been revealed. Ricci will be joining Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, who are reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity.

Daniel Bernhardt, Jada Pinkett Smith, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Jonathan Groff, and Neil Patrick Harris are also part of the film.

The fourth Matrix installment was first announced in August 2019. The final title of the film has yet to be revealed.

Details about the plot are also being kept under wraps, but Warner Bros said that it was “set in the world of The Matrix.” They, however, did not confirm if the new film would be a direct sequel to the third installment, The Matrix Revolutions.

In September 2020, Keanu Reeves confirmed that the production for the movie had begun in Berlin, Germany. “It’s inspiring, it’s another version of a kind of call to wake up. It entertains, it has some great action,” Reeves told BBC The One Show.

Lana Wachowski is writing and directing the movie. It is slated to premiere in theaters and on HBO Max on December 22, 2021.

Christina Ricci is best known for her portrayal of Wednesday Addams in the 1991 film The Addams Family. She also starred in Sleepy Hollow, Monster, The Lizzie Borden Chronicles, and Distorted. – Rappler.com
