Warner Bros released via Twitter on Monday, July 19, the new character posters for its upcoming fantasy film Dune.

The gritty, portrait posters show the ensemble cast as their characters: Timothée Chalamet (Call Me by Your Name) as Paul, Oscar Isaac (Ex Machina) as Duke Leto, Zendaya (Euphoria) as Chani, Jason Momoa (Aquaman) as Duncan Idaho, Rebecca Ferguson (The Greatest Showman) as Lady Jessica, Javier Bardem (Skyfall) as Stilgar, Josh Brolin (Deadpool 2) as Gurney, and Stellan Skarsgård (Chernobyl) as The Baron.

The sci-fi film is directed by Oscar-nominated Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Blade Runner 2049, Prisoners), who also wrote the screenplay with Jon Spaihts (Doctor Strange) and Eric Roth (Forrest Gump). It is an adaptation of the best-selling 1965 novel of the same name by Frank Herbert.

Set in the far future, Dune follows the Atreides family as they relocate to the planet of Arrakis in order to rule over the mining of a powerful substance called “the spice.” Atreides, a gifted man, must travel to the most dangerous planet to protect the future of his family and his people.

Dune was originally set for a theatrical release in late 2020 but was delayed multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is now set to have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 3 and its US theatrical release on October 22. It will also premiere on HBO Max on the same day of its theatrical release. – with reports by Angelica Burlaza/Rappler.com
