The official trailer for the upcoming film Army of the Dead is out, giving viewers a glimpse into the ensemble cast bringing to life the story of a misfit band of mercenaries on a mission.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Army of the Dead unfolds in a post-Zombie apocalypse Las Vegas, now left in ruins and walled-off from the rest of the world. It stars Dave Bautista who plays Scott Ward, a former zombie war hero who has ended up flipping burgers.

Scott is approached by casino boss Bly Tanaka (Hiroyuki Sanada), who presents him with an irresistible proposition: to retrieve $200 million from an impenetrable vault underneath the Las Vegas strip before the city is nuked by the government in 32 hours.

Hoping that the payoff will help him reconcile with his estranged daughter Kate (Ella Purnell), Scott accepts the mission and brings together a motley crew of experts who can help him accomplish it: mechanic Maria Cruz (Ana de la Reguera), zombie killing machine Vanderohe (Omari Hardwick), cynical helicopter pilot Marianne Peters (Tig Notaro), go-for-broke influencer Mikey Guzman (Raúl Castillo) and his ride-or-die Chambers (Samantha Win), the casino’s head of security Martin (Garret Dillahunt), a badass warrior known as the Coyote (Nora Arnezeder) who recruits security guard Burt Cummings (Theo Rossi), and German safe cracker Dieter (Matthias Schweighöfer).

Kate also ends up joining the mission in search of Geeta (Huma Qureshi), a mother who has gone missing inside the city.

The film’s screenplay was written by Zack, Shay Hatten, and Joby Harold from a story by Zack. It is produced by Zack, Deborah Snyder, and Wesley Coller. It also stars Richard Cetrone and Michael Cassidy.

Army of the Dead is set to premiere on Netflix on May 21. – Rappler.com
