MANILA, Philippines – In an intimate gathering of friends and media practitioners, the Magalonas unveiled on Thursday, May 23, a revived version of the late Francis Magaona’s OPM classic “Kaleidoscope World.”

It had a touch of the new generation in the face of Francis’ son, Elmo Magalona.

Through the wonders of technology, the video originally aired in 2000 was tweaked to feature Elmo alongside his father, as if the rising teen star went more than a decade into the past.

Now, one video bridges 3 generations of entertainers — from ’50s matinee idol Pancho Magalona, to the King of Pinoy Rap Francis M, to budding teen sensation Elmo —in what was an emotional moment of pride and longing.

The video directed by Jose Ticsay had siblings Frank, Maxene, Saab, Elmo, Clara, Arkin, and their mother Pia Magalona in tears.

Even the colorful venue, reminiscent of a real kaleidoscope, added to the mood.

“It has always been our dream to see one of us perform with Papa,” said actress Maxene Magalona who hosted the event alongside brother Frank.

Saab Magalona, who has also ventured into the industry, was excited about seeing their father on television again.

Elmo explained how the creation took a whole day of rearrangement and editing, but added that coincidence made the process easier.

“There were coincidentally parts where I could easily be edited into. I couldn’t believe it was possible,” he said in Filipino.

“I’m getting goosebumps,” Elmo said, after watching the video with the audience.

The video was released with the hashtag #FMForeverMore, a tribute to Fancis M’s undying legacy and contribution to the world of Pinoy hip-hop.

The Magalonas have tried to keep their father’s memory fresh by launching FrancisM Clothing Co, and setting up the Francis Magalona Foundation, dedicated to forming Filipino pride and contributing to nation-buildng. – Rappler.com
