Is it goodbye for UK boy band The Wanted?

TIME OFF. The Wanted are taking time off to 'pursue personal matters.' Screen grab from their Facebook account

MANILA, Philippines  Both good and bad news awaited fans of UK boy band The Wanted on January 22, after the group posted an “important announcement” on social media.

The band has released a new video and single “Glow in the Dark” great news for many fans, but perhaps not enough to cushion the blow of what’s to come.

The bad news? The post went on to say that the band is going on an indefinite hiatus to pursue “personal endeavors” after their Word of Mouth world tour happening this year.

“This tour will be their last for a while as Tom, Max, Jay, Siva and Nathan have collectively decided to take time to pursue personal endeavours following the tour’s conclusion,” read the post.

But the post clarifies that the boys aren’t closing their doors on future projects together.

“The band wants to stress to their fans that they will continue on as The Wanted and look forward to many successful projects together in the future. They thank their fans for their continued love and support and look forward to seeing them on tour.”

As shocked and disheartened reactions flooded social media, the boys assured their fans that all is not lost.

“I know the news today was a big thing, but let me tell you this is not the END,” tweeted Max George, adding that their break will be used “to achieve other things in their lives and careers.”

“It’s a break, not the end,” Tweeted Thomas Parker.

Nathan Skyes used Instagram to clarify that “no one was to blame for the decision.”

The Wanted formed in 2009 and the band has since come out with hits such as “Glad You Came,” “Chasing the Sun,” and “Walks Like Rihanna.” In 2013, reality television show The Wanted Life captured the band’s life behind the scenes.

The band’s Word of Mouth world tour streches across Europe, Canada, and the US. Luckily, Pinoy fans had the chance to see the band play live in Manila last September 2012. It remains unclear whether the band will find their way back to Manila, but still, we’re glad they came. – Rappler.com
