Ben&Ben nominated for MTV Europe Music Award

Ben&Ben has been nominated for an MTV Europe Music Award. The nine-member folk pop band is among 6 nominees in the Best Southeast Asia Act category, according to the official EMAs website.

The Best Southeast Asia Act award was added to the EMAs in 2013. Local EMA categories provide viewers and fans the chance to pick the Best Local Act in their region.

Other nominees for this year include Agnez Mo (Indonesia), Violette Wautier (Thailand), Benjamin Kheng (Singapore), Jack (Vietnam), and K-Clique (Malaysia).

In an October 6 tweet, the band expressed gratitude for the nomination and called it a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity”.

Past Filipino nominees include Nadine Lustre, James Reid, Moira dela Torre, and Sarah Geronimo. Geronimo was nominated thrice, and won the award in 2014.

Fans may vote for Ben&Ben in the category here. Voting is open until November 3, and the awards night will be broadcast and livestreamed worldwide on November 8.

Ben&Ben released their first album Limasawa Street in 2019. Since their formation in 2015, the band has become part of many local soundtracks, and has also won multiple Awit Awards.  –
