Following the release of their collaboration on the band version of SB19’s “MAPA,” Ben&Ben’s Paolo Benjamin Guico took to social media to share his experience working with the P-pop group.

Hindi lang ‘yung dahil halimaw silang sumayaw, pulido silang umawit, at mahusay silang sumulat, kung hindi dahil napakabuti nilang mga tao,” said Paolo, praising the group. (It’s not just because they’re good at dancing, singing, and composing songs, but because they’re all kind-hearted people.)

While working on the collaboration, Paolo shared that they learned more about each member of respective groups. He added that despite the differences in their personalities, they still got along easily.

(They’re really chill and fun to be with. We talked about our families, our dreams, our struggles, and other stuff. You can really see how genuine they are. They’re real people who went through real hardships and have big dreams they want to achieve. Even if we’re different, we connected with each other.)

Paolo said that among the five members of SB19, he spoke the most with leader Pablo. Sharing a selfie of them together, Paolo praised Pablo’s skills. Grabe silang lahat,” he said. (His mind and heart is so selfless, it’s evident in the songs he writes. All of them are just so amazing.)

Sharing behind-the-scenes photos of their shoot, Paolo recounted how smooth-sailing their collaboration was. Parang may chemistry ba. Ganun siguro pag soulmate,” he wrote.

(We’re like super close friends. We’ve only met each other for awhile, but it seemed like we’ve known each other forever. There was chemistry. Maybe that’s how it is for soulmates.)

While both groups might have different sounds, Paolo said they’re still bound by music, and that the collaboration was a learning experience for all of them.

Ang daming natutunan mula sa kanila, at na-inspire kaming pagbutihin pa as artists, musicians, at as people.

(We might have differences in sound, personality and fashion, but it doesn’t matter because we’re all connected together through music. We learned a lot from them. We were inspired to better ourselves as artists, musicians and as people. We still have a long way to go as a band, but if we’re surrounded by inspiring groups like SB19, then we’ll still power through.”

“MAPA (Band Version),” which was released on Sunday, June 27, is SB19 and Ben&Ben’s first collaboration.

On Wednesday, June 29, SB19 thanked their fans – “Liwanag” for Ben&Ben and “A’TIN” for SB19, for supporting their work.

Ben&Ben and SB19 are two of the biggest acts in the Filipino music industry.

SB19 is set to hold an online concert, Back In The Zone, on July 18. Ben&Ben recently collaborated with Day6’s Young K for a remake of their song “Leaves.” – Rappler.com
