BLACKPINK surpasses Justin Bieber's record

K-pop girl group BLACKPINK achieved another milestone.

YouTube announced on Saturday, September 11, that BLACKPINK’s official channel has surpassed 65.5 million subscribers globally, making them the most subscribed artist on the platform.

The record was previously held by Justin Bieber, who currently has 65.1 million subscribers in the platform.

“This is unbelievable. It’s a precious moment gifted to us by our BLINKS (fans). We would like to dedicate this honor to all of our fans around the world who have loved and supported us throughout,” the members said in a statement, according to Billboard.

BLACKPINK continued, “Our BLINKS contributed a lot to achievement. Therefore we hope they also enjoy this honor… We will continue to bring positivity and great energy through our music and videos.”

Billboard also said that according to YouTube, BLACKPINK earned more than 9.7 billion views globally in the past year alone.

The BLACKPINK channel was created on June 28, 2016.

BLACKPINK made their debut in August 2016 with their single album Square One. The group released their first full-length Korean studio album The Album in October 2020.

Three BLACKPINK members have also debuted as solo artists. Jennie released Solo in November 2018, Rosé released R in March 2021, and Lisa released LALISA in September 2021. Jisoo has yet to release solo music, but has been filming a Korean drama.  – Rappler.com
