Finally in our area: BLACKPINK teases October 2 debut album drop

It’s a good Tuesday for BLINKS all over the world – even if it means another 3-month wait – after the Korean girl group teased on Tuesday, July 28, the October release date for their first full-length album.

The 4-girl group, in their official social media pages, posted the teaser art for their first album, titled The Album. The teaser features a pink tiara along with the album’s release date: October 2, 2020.

Jennie, Lisa, Rosé, and Jisoo debuted as BLACKPINK in 2016 and have since become one of the most recognizable acts from South Korea. They’ve broken digital streaming records, performed in Coachella, and sold out concert tours worldwide.

Surprisingly, they’ve yet to release a full-length studio album. Thus far, they’ve released 3 EPs – two in Korean and one in Japanese.

While fans are understandable excited over the coming album, there were those who also poked fun at – or expressed concern – over the apparent title of the long-awaited album.

“Plz tell me ‘The Album’ is just a placeholder until you release the album name cause omg if y’all took twenty years to give them another album and titled it ‘The Album’ I’m gonna cry,” said Instagram user annakbakerr.

YG Entertainment, the group that manages BLACKPINK, had earlier announced a September release date for the debut album. – Rappler.com
