BTS to perform in first live concert since coronavirus pandemic

BTS is set to hit the stage in front of a live audience for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic shut down live music events all over the world.

The Korean superstars will be performing in 2021 New Year’s Eve Live, a show presented by Weverse and their agency, Big Hit Entertainment.

They will be performing alongside fellow Big Hit artists Lee Hyun, Bumzu, NU’EST, GFriend, Tomorrow x Together, and ENHYPHEN.

The show will be held on December 31 at the KINTEX Exibition Center in Gyeonggi-do, outside of South Korea’s capital Seoul.

Due to coronavirus prevention measures, the seating capacity has been limited, though the show will also be available online.

BTS canceled their world tour earlier in the year due to the pandemic. It was set to kick off in Seoul in April, and would have seen the group perform around North America, Europe, and Asia.

Despite the cancellation, the group has managed to generate massive ticket sales through virtual concerts such as their seventh anniversary show Bang Bang Con in June, and the record-breaking Map of the Soul ON:E in October.

They also released their first English-language song “Dynamite” in August, breaking the YouTube record for most-watched premiere. – Rappler.com
