The Coldplay frontman is placed under 'strict doctor's orders' to rest

MANILA, Philippines — British rock band Coldplay has postponed some of their upcoming shows in order to prioritize the recovery of frontman Chris Martin, who was diagnosed with a “serious lung infection.”

Martin was placed under “strict doctor’s orders” to rest for the coming three weeks, which clashes with eight upcoming concerts scheduled in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

In a statement posted on Coldplay’s official Instagram, the band announced, “We’re working as fast as possible to lock in the new dates and will follow up with more information in the next few days.”

“To everyone in Brazil who was looking forward to these concerts, we’re extremely sorry for any disappointment and inconvenience, and we’re so grateful for your understanding at this challenging time where we need to prioritize Chris’ health,” they added.

Coldplay also announced that original tickets will still be accepted at the rescheduled tour dates, which are set for early 2023.

Coldplay is a British rock band composed of Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, Will Champion, and Phil Harvey. They are known for classic hits such as “The Scientist,” “Yellow,” and “Viva La Vida,” among many others. – with reports from Andrea Ebdane/Rappler.com
