Watch The Filharmonic sing Sarah G hit ‘Kilometro’ at Manila homecoming gig

MANILA, Philippines – The Los Angeles-based a cappella boy band The Filharmonic has always proudly brought up their Filipino heritage. Rightly so, members Jules Cruz, Trace Gaynor, Joe Caigoy, Barry Fortgang, VJ Rosales, and Niko del Rey reconnect to their roots by way of music, and have even professed their admiration for Philippine pop royalty Sarah Geronimo on various occasions. At their Mall of Asia show on November 7, Saturday, Trace told the audience, “We’ve done interviews where we were asked, ‘Who’s your favorite singer? You know – who inspires you? We wanted to say ‘Sarah G.’” (READ: Q&A: The Filharmonic on ‘Pitch Perfect 2,’ being Pinoy, and YouTube fame) 

The boys immediately launched into a brilliant cover of Sarah G’s acclaimed 2014 hit “Kilometro,” penned by the powerhouse duo Thyro Alfaro and Yumi Lacsamana.

The Filharmonic originally posted a music video featuring their take on the song on YouTube. 

They also sung it at their various appearances on ABS-CBN shows, live on Umagang Kay Ganda, and even fulfilled their dream performing a short snippet with the pop songstress herself on ASAP, November 8, Sunday.

The song which goes, “Gagawin ko ang lahat upang sa huli, sa huli, sa huli ay tayo / kung kailangan kong tahakin ang kilomet-, kilomet-, kilometrong layo (I’ll do whatever it takes, so we’ll end, end, end up together / even if I have to go through kilomet-, kilomet-, kilometers apart),” was a great way to describe the spirit of the American-born warblers’ homecoming concert.

Trace told the audience at the show, “We’ve been so excited to come to Manila. Ever since we formed, that’s all we wanted to do – it’s to come to the Philippines. So, it’s such an honor to be here.” – Rappler.com
