MANILA, Philippines – We’re going to infinity and beyond at Wanderland this year, as the popular indie music and arts festival is set to bring in even more stellar acts than ever before. I’ve been going to Wanderland since year one, and the 2016 lineup seems to be the most tightly curated so far – and I think, the best. It’s certainly shaping up, considering a highly anticipated summer music festival season in the country this year.

Gear up for the festival with this convenient playlist:

It’s going to be indie rock band Death Cab for Cutie’s second time on our shores since 2012 – sadly, sans guitarist and songwriter Chris Walla this time. But with their eighth album Kintsugi released in early 2015, no “Black Sun” will be revolving around us.

We’ll be singing along to their melancholic but amazing new tracks live, plus hopefully our favorites like “What Sarah Said,” “Soul Meets Body,” and “I Will Follow You into the Dark.”

Bon Iver hasn’t toured much recently, but what a comeback: they’re going to make a stop in our islands where “they’ve never been.” Bring out the tissues, because Justin Vernon and company will be tugging on our heartstrings with songs like “Holocene,” “Calgary,” “For Emma,” and “Skinny Love.”

The Naked and Famous will surely electrify the Wanderland crowd with their high-octane indietronica tunes like “Young Blood” and “Punching in a Dream.”

We’ll be on our feet when San Cisco takes the stage with their charming and quirky brand of indie pop, with songs like “Awkward,” “Fred Astaire,” and “Run.”

“Always, [we’ll] remember” Panama, because their appearance at Wanderland will be unforgettable.

San Francisco-based Fil-Am producer Mikey Maramag a.k.a. Blackbird Blackbird will be dishing out chillwave tracks that are so lit, fire emojis will be strewn over the #Wanderland2016 feed.

Chad Valley, with his bright synths and soulful voice, will take us on a ride back to the ‘80s. Listen to his music; it’s like the magical, romantic soundtracks of yesteryear’s John Hughes films.

Aussie musician Tim Commandeur has played for Colour Coding in Wanderland 2013, and now, Panama, for the upcoming edition. Now, he is also going to go solo as Commandeur on the stage to take us to outer space with his expansive and otherworldly electronic soundscapes.

Surely as astronomical as the international acts on the bill, our homegrown acts will make Wanderland 2016 an even bigger blast.

Cheats, who scored a spot at Laneway Festival Singapore 2016, is also set to make an appearance at the festival.

After their appearance on the Locally Stage last year, watch out for producer CRWN playing alongside songstress Jess Connelly and rapper Curtismith, who will be dishing out banger after banger at this year’s Wanderland. Cue more fire emojis.

The boys of Jensen and the Flips will provide good ‘ol pogi rock – tinged with a bit of ‘70s nostalgia – to the occasion.

Oh, Flamingo, this year’s Wanderband, will be sharing the Wanderland stage with their idols and will surely gain new fans at the festival.
