Bimby, Vice Ganda, Toni Gonzaga, Joseph Marco, Luiz Manzano, and more help Alex put on a smashing solo show

MANILA, Philippines – Alex Gonzaga kept the laughs coming in her first-ever big show entitled AG from the East: The UNEXpected Concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Saturday, April 25.

Her ever-present kakulitan (antics) lasted from start to finish, and kept the crowd wanting more.

Celebrities were also in attendance, like Julia Montes, Julia Barretto and mother Marjorie, Rayver Cruz, and Lucy Torres, among others.

Here are the highlights from the event:

Alex channeled Ariana Grande in her first 3 opening numbers, with “Break Free,” “Problem,” and a mash-up of “One Last Time” and “Love Me Harder.”

Check out the videos below:

She also asked friend, comedian Vice Ganda, to join her onstage to give advice to some of the concertgoers.

Vice also channeled his advice guru counterpart Madam Bertud, and gave advice to a 22-year old who was missing the ideal love life and a girl who had problems with her girlfriend.

She also performed two of her songs from her debut album I Am Alex G, “Panaginip Lang” and “Break Na Tayo.”

Alex had a lot of memorable guest stars on the show, starting with The Voice PH stars Klarisse de Guzman and Leah Patricio.

Maja Salvador came next, dancing to “Crazy In Love” with Alex.

Alex joked about how she and Maja are both now single, following Gerald Anderson’s announcement that he and Maja were on a break

The crowd cheered even harder when Matteo Guidicelli and Joseph Marco came out on stage and sang to Pharrell’s “Happy.” But Alex was surprised to see Showtime host Ryan Bang pop out with them in a red suit and a floral bowtie.

She got them to admit what they loved most in a girl, and had them dance to Psy’s “Gentleman.”

Luis Manzano also dropped by the show, where he and Alex had a karaoke sing-off, with Luis singing an off-key “Thinking Out Loud” (that earned him a negative 2 score) and Alex singing “Let’s Get Loud” (which earned her a score of 100).

She also surprised Luis with a birthday cake, and he joked that his birthday wish would be dedicated to her.

The “Hollywoods” segment of the concert came, which was a parody of the show Your Face Sounds Familiar. Melai Cantiveros, Karla Estrada, and Jolina Magdangal – who are candidates on the show – reprised their performances.

Melai was up first with Britney Spears’ “Oops, I Did It Again.” Karla was next with Adele’s “Someone Like You”

Jolina, dressed in gold, performed Cher’s “Believe.” Alex came out last as Tina Turner, and impressed the audience with her spot-on impression of the singer’s hit “Proud Mary.”

Sister Toni Gonzaga also joined Alex as they performed Frozen’s “Let It Go,” complete with the Disney sisters’ outfits – Alex was Anna and Toni was Elsa. After the performance, Toni said it was Alex’s dream for them to sing it together.

Toni also revealed that Alex was very emotional lately, following the announcement of Toni and Paul Soriano’s engagement in February.

The two performed “Bang Bang” by Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj. Toni joked that her outfit was dedicated to her mother Pinty, who was known to be very strict with her daughters.

After this, Alex performed Sia’s “Chandelier” and even did the interpretative dance bit done by Maddie.

She was hoisted up into the air, and joked whether or not the audience members would leave her up there and make her watch them leave.

Eventually, she was brought down and closed the show with Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” as a rain of confetti fell.
