Singer-songwriter Fern. on Friday, July 16, released a new single “Kagandahan” – his first Tagalog-language track.
Released under Island Records Philippines, “Kagandahan” is a meditative, minimalist track that muses on the fleeting nature of beauty.
“It talks about how we’re often scared of losing beauty that we believe is in our possession and how this fear often robs us of enjoying the beauty while its right in front of us,” Fern. said.
The song was originally penned by his dad, and rewritten and produced by Fern. himself. It was mixed by Sonny Zero, and the vocals were recorded at home, perhaps contributing to the lonely and introspective quality of his voice.
“I recorded all my vocals in my bedroom, and I think it’s because singing just hits differently when you’re alone – in my opinion, at least,” he shared.
Fern. made his debut in 2017 with “Into You,” and has since released a self-titled EP. He has collaborated with artists including Julie Anne San Jose, Claudia Barretto, Kiana Valenciano, and Leila Alcasid.
