GFRIEND is no longer renewing their contract with Source Music

K-pop girl group GFRIEND is leaving their agency Source Music, six years after their debut.

According to Soompi, all six members of GFRIEND – Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB and Umji – are no longer renewing their contracts with Source Music. The group’s contact will expire on May 22.

On Monday, May 18, Source Music released a statement on GFRIEND’s departure, saying that both sides “have come to an agreement to follow separate paths to continued growth.”

“We would like to express our since and heartfelt gratitude to GFRIEND who has allowed Source Music to accompany them on their journey,” they said.  “Source Music will always continue to cheer for the members as they take the first step towards new beginnings,” the label added.

Shortly after the announcement, GFRIEND and hashtag #TO6ETHERWITHGFRIEND topped Twitter trends.

GFRIEND made their debut in January 2015. They are known for their hits “Me Gustas Tu,” “Love Whisper,” “Fever” and “Mago.” In November 2020, the group released their latest album Warpurgis Night. Rappler.com
