Globe, 88Rising launch new music label

Music collective 88rising and telco company Globe are teaming up to launch a new label, Paradise Rising, to help Filipino artists bring their music to a global audience.

The label’s launch will be marked by the release of semilucent, a mixtape that includes tracks from Kiana V, Massiah, Jason Dhakal, Leila Alcasid, and Fern. semilucent will be released on July 31.

“The Philippines and music go hand in hand, and there is such a vibrancy in the way talented young artists are emerging, and such a massive audience in love with music,” said 88Rising found Sean Miyashiro.

“We want to support their voices, help them be heard, and bring music from the Philippines to a global audience. This label partnership brings an unprecedented opportunity for Philippine artists to achieve even greater visibility and commercial success with their music,” he added.

Meanwhile, Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu added, “We take pride in our Filipino music, and we are honored to do our part in further unlocking the potential of Asian music in the global music industry by partnering with 88rising to recreate the local music scene with some of the best rising talents.”

“It will be interesting to see what these creative young artists can bring to the global stage,” Cu said.

88Rising is known for bringing Asian talents to Western audiences, with a roster that includes the likes of Rich Brian, NIKI, Joji and Higher Brothers. – Rappler.com
