The planned show will be modeled after 'Later with Jools Holland'

A talk show to be hosted by American singer-songwriter John Mayer on Paramount Plus was pitched to “prospective broadcast partners,” Variety reports.

The talk show series, which will be the first for Mayer, will reportedly be modeled after Later with Jools Holland, a BBC talk show.

If the deal pushes through, the series will feature performances and interviews with various musicians and artists made to look like an “after-hours club.” It will also be set to run on a weekly basis on Paramount Plus, the streaming platform of US-based broadcasting giant ViacomCBS. The show’s plan includes special segments to be aired periodically on CBS, as well as collaborations with the Grammy Awards.

Mayer has made several stints on social media platforms as a talk show host and a TV personality himself. He created his own show called Current Mood on Instagram Live in 2018, and has also garnered over 140 million views on his Tiktok account. He also appeared as a guest host on CBS’ The Late Late Show and showcased his comedic side on Chappelle’s Show.

Mayer has released 7 studio albums and 7 live albums to date. He has also won 7 Grammy awards for Male Pop Vocal Performance and Pop Vocal Album, among others. – with reports from Andrea Tibayan/Rappler.com
