WATCH: Joshua Garcia, Julia Barretto play lovers who find forgiveness in ‘Paubaya’ music video

Actors Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia reunited to star in the music video for Moira dela Torre’s “Paubaya,” a song about letting go of a love that wasn’t meant to be.

The music video was released on Sunday, February 14.

In the music video, the actors play fictionalized versions of themselves. Julia and Joshua are getting married, only for Julia to break down and run out just after Joshua says “yes.”

The video also includes personal clips of Julia and Joshua’s, from back when they were together in real life.

A third of the way into the video, the song itself pauses as Julia, still dressed in her wedding gown, goes back to the church, where a distraught Joshua had been staying.

The two then take turns apologizing to each other. Julia apologizes for hurting Joshua and running away, while Joshua says sorry for not being there when Julia had needed him the most.

After their tearful heart-to-heart, they come to terms with the possibility that they might just not be meant for each other.

“Sinubukan naman natin, ‘di ba (We tried to make it work, didn’t we)?” said Julia.

“Gusto ko mag-thank you sa iyo…sa lahat ng memories na binigay mo sa akin (I want to thank you for all the memories you gave me),” said Joshua.

The dialogue – which Julia and Joshua are credited as co-writers of – ends with the couple thanking and forgiving each other.

Julia and Joshua were once constantly on-screen partners, dubbed “JoshLia” by fans. They starred in several movies and series together, including the hits Love You to the Stars and Back and Vince and Kath and James, among others. They announced in 2019 that they had split. – Rappler.com
