Manila heritage sites to be showcased in Hotdog tribute concert

Manila Sound is set to come alive in the city it’s named after, with Hinahanap-hanap Kita Manila: The Manila Heritage Concert on December 13.

Up Dharma Down’s Armi Millare, IV of Spades’ Blaster Silonga, Ebe Dancel, Raymund Marasigan, Yeng Constantino, and Gary Valenciano are among the artists performing at the concert, which will feature the music of iconic ’70s band Hotdog.

Also performing are Nicole Asensio, Bing Austria, Paolo Garcia, Brass Pas Pas Pas Pas, Bea Lorenzo, and Rubber Inc.

The concert, presented by the Tourism Promotions Board, will also showcase various heritage sites in Manila.

Hotdog, the band formed by brothers Dennis and Rene Garcia, was one of the pioneers of Manila Sound, a genre built on disco-pop that reached its peak in the 1970s.

The band’s most popular hits include “Annie Batungbakal,” “Bongga Ka, ‘Day,” “Ikaw ang Miss Universe ng Buhay Ko,” and the homecoming anthem, “Manila.”

The concert will stream for free at 8 pm on various Facebook pages, including that of the National Parks Development Committee, the Department of Tourism, the Intramuros Administration, and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno. – Rappler.com
