The song is a tribute to actress Anne Curtis

Alternative rock band Mayonnaise has teamed up with Barbie Almalbis for their latest single, “Ang Kutis” – a love song inspired by the band’s encounter with Anne Curtis.

The song is pure OPM rock, with Mayonnaise frontman Monty Macalino and Barbie sharing vocal duties. It is the 4th single off Mayonnaise’s upcoming 8th studio album.

The song was recorded earlier in 2020. Monty shared that it is meant to be a tribute to his friends in the entertainment scene, writing the lyrics right after a guest appearance on ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime.

“Sobrang nabaitan lang ako kay Anne nun, very welcoming and pleasant ‘yung pakikisama sa ‘min so mas lalo siyang gumanda bilang tao (I just thought Anne was so nice then, she was very welcoming and pleasant with us, so she just became more beautiful as a person),” he shared.

“Then pag-uwi nung nag-iisip ng song ideas, dahil nga gusto ko nun magkaro’n ng collab with Barbie, parang naisip ko na ito ‘yung bagay na kanta sa kanya and at the same time, tribute siya sa guesting na ‘yun at para kay Anne (When I went home, I was thinking of song ideas, and because I wanted to collab with Barbie I thought this song would be a great fit for her, and at the same time, a tribute to that guesting and to Anne,” Monty said.

Mayonnaise is celebrating their 18th year in the music industry in 2020.
