Daniel Padilla's playlist: Buble, Sinatra, U2

When it comes to music, Daniel Padilla doesn't like sticking to just one genre.

At the press conference for his online concert Apollo: A Daniel Padilla Digital Experience on Tuesday, October 6, the actor was asked about the songs and artists he likes to listen to.

Here’s what Daniel shared:

Daniel and Kathryn Bernardo likes Michael Buble

"I am into rock and roll. Si Kathryn [is] more into mga ballad,” Daniel said. "Nagkapareho kami sa gusto namin si Michael Buble. Iyon ang trip namin before.

(I am into rock and roll. Kathryn is more into ballads. But we both like Michael Buble. When I was first introduced to her, I found out that she loves Michael Buble. She loves the "standards." As a kid, I was already a fan of Sinatra so I introduced her to the songs of Sinatra, Nat King Cole. So now, we both have the same taste in music. Kathryn's music is also my music.)

"Here, There, and Everywhere" is his and Kathryn's theme song

Daniel said that the song by the Beatles is their current theme song. One of the song's first verses goes: "Here, making each day of the year / Changing my life with the wave of her hand / Nobody can deny that there's something there."

Apo Hiking Society's "Panalangin" would be his song to serenade Kathryn if he courts her again

According to Daniel, he'd pick the Apo Hiking Society classic to serenade his girlfriend.

His current fight song is "One" by U2

If you listen to the song, 'One', saktong-sakto siya sa nangyayari ngayon," he said. "We have to be one, tayong lahat. Hindi tayo pwede divided. The problem now is masyado tayong divided with our opinions, beliefs na hindi na natin nakikita kung ano ba dapat ang bibigyan natin ng pansin."

"Now kailangan natin magkaisa….It goes out na hindi para lang sa Pilipinas, kung hindi sa buong mundo."

(if you listen to the song "One," it's perfect for what's happening now. We have to be one, all of us. We cannot be divided. The problem now is we're too divided because of our opinions and beliefs that we're unable to see what's most important. We need to be united...it applies not only to the Philippines but for the whole world.)

He credits his parents and grandmother for his music preferences

Daniel said his musical choices were influenced by his parents, actress Karla Estrada, actor Rommel Padilla, and grandmother Eva Carino.

"Yung influence ng U2, sa mama ko nakuha iyon. Kasi fan siya ng U2. Yung sa daddy ko naman, nakuha ko naman yung mga Def Leppard, Led Zeppelin..sa lola ko naman, yung mga standard music with Sinatra," he said.

(It was my mom who introduced me to U2 because she's a fan. My father introduced me to Def Leppard, Led Zeppelin. My lola introduced me to standard music with Sinatra.)

"Ako, self-discovery ko na yung mga '80s new wave like mga Tears For Fears, The Cure, iyan na yung mga natutunan ko na rin eventually."

('80s new wave acts like Tears for Fears and The Cute were self-discovered. I eventually learned about them.)

"Nag-evolve na lang din yung music ko and mas gusto ko yung luma kasi iba yung puso na binibigay nila. Itong mga lumang music ibang puso ang binibigay – may poetry, binigyan ng oras. Iba yung mag- recording dati, iba ang recording ngayon kaya sobra ko na-appreciate yung mga lumang kanta."

(My music taste has evolved. I like older music because the emotions are different. They involve poetry, it took much longer to creative. Records are were different from recordings now, so I appreciate older songs a lot.)
