The music channel will continue to air even as Robi Domingo, Edward Barber, Anton Fausto, and Dani Mortel end their stints as VJs

Several MYX VJs were among the ABS-CBN workers that ended their stints at the media network because of the retrenchment that took effect on August 31.

A House committee had rejected the company’s franchise renewal in July, forcing many of ABS-CBN’s 11,000 out of their jobs.

VJs Robi Domingo, Edward Barber, Dani Mortel, and Anton Fausto were among those that had to leave the music channel, while VJs Ai dela Cruz and Samm Alvero remain.

An emotional Robi read out MYX’s official statement on the retrenchment during an episode of the channel’s MYX IT UP! podcast on August 29, in the presence of his fellow VJs.

“It is with a heavy heart that the MYX family bids farewell to majority of our staff and VJs who were among the thousands of retrenched ABS-CBN workers,” he read.

“⁣Please continue to support us as we do our very best to make our family complete again,” he continued. “Our small but dedicated team is more committed than ever to remain a vital part of the Filipino youth’s music experience and to champion Filipino artists as we have done for almost 20 years.”

According to the statement, the channel will continue its 24-hour programming on cable television, and will still be available on its online and social media platforms.

ABS-CBN’s flagship channel and its radio stations were forced to go off-air in May following a shutdown order from the National Telecommunications Commission after their congessional franchise lapsed.

In July, lawmakers rejected their application for a new franchise, forcing the media company to lay off thousands of workers and close down many of their divisions and businesses. – Rappler.com
