FULL LIST: Nominees, MTV Video Music Awards 2020

The nominations are in for the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) 2020, and Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande are at the top of the list.

The two pop stars, who recently collaborated on Lady Gaga’s single “Rain on Me,” both count 9 nominations each under categories that include Video of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Collaboration.

Also scoring multiple nominations were electropop wunderkind Billie Eilish and R&B sensation The Weeknd who counted 6 each.

This year’s VMAs is truly of the pandemic-era, with two new categories: Best Music Video from Home and Best Quarantine Performance.

The awards will be staged at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York City, with performances happening across all of the city’s 5 boroughs – a tribute to “the spirit and resilience of New York,” which was among the areas in the United States hit hardest by the coronavirus. The show will have “limited or no audience,” with show producers implementing various measures to limit the risk of spreading the virus.

The MTV VMAs 2020 will air on MTV’s linear and digital platforms on Sunday, August 30, 8 pm in the United States (August 31, 8 am, Philippine time).
