On Tuesday, May 18, the P-pop group held a music showcase wherein they had their first live performance for “Mapa.” In a pre-show interview with GMA News, the members revealed that the track is dedicated to their parents.

“This is a song for our parents. Busy kami sa mga pangarap namin, pero nandito kami, hindi namin kayo iiwan,” said Justin. (We might be busy with our dreams, but we’re here and we won’t forget you.)

Pablo also added, “Gusto namin magpasalamat sa kanila. Gusto namin ibalik lahat ng pagmamahal at aruga na binigay nila ngayong nakakatayo na kami sa sarili naming paa. Kami naman ‘yung gagawa noon para sa kanila.”

(We wanted to thank them. We want to give back all the love and support they gave us now that we’re able to stand on our own feet. We’ll do for them what they did for us.)

Since it’s been a while since they performed for an audience, the members admitted feeling nervous and excited for the showcase. “It’s been a long time since we’ve performed onstage,” said Josh.

Itong stage na ‘to, very important. Ito ‘yung mga panahon na maraming nakatingin sa amin kaya we’ll do our best,” he added. (This stage is very important. A lot of people are watching us right now so we’ll do our best).

SB19 is nominated for the Top Social Artist category for the 2021 Billboard Music Awards. Winners are based on global voting, social engagement, music streams, and fan interactions.

The Cultural Center of the Philippines even asked Filipinos to vote for the P-pop group, since it’s the first time for a Philippine act to be nominated in the award-giving body.
