K-pop boy group SEVENTEEN will temporarily continue their promotional activities in South Korea as 11 members, as members Jun and The8 return to their home country China.

SEVENTEEN’s agency, PLEDIS Entertainment, announced the news on Wednesday, September 1, saying that the decision was made after consultation with the members of the group, taking into account the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“SEVENTEEN members Jun and The8 will focus on their activities in China from September to December. They will resume their work in China that has been postponed by COVID-19 and spend time with their families after having been forced to stay apart from them for a considerable amount of time due to the pandemic,” the statement read.

“Please note that during this period, SEVENTEEN will engage in their promotions in Korea with 11 members.”

The agency also added, “We ask for your generous understanding, and please stay tuned for the diverse activities of SEVENTEEN both in Korea and abroad during the second half of this year.”

Following the announcement, Jun and The8 members took to Weverse to confirm the news. The rest of SEVENTEEN’s members told them to spend time with their family and to come back safely.

SEVENTEEN released their eighth mini-album Your Choice in June 2021. In July 2021, all 13 members of the group also renewed their exclusive contracts with the agency.

Since their debut in 2015, SEVENTEEN has risen to fame for their hits “Aju Nice,” “Don’t Wanna Cry,” “Home,” and “Left & Right.” The group is set to release a new album in October.  – with reports from Jana Torres/Rappler.com
