The feature will allow users to 'listen to their favorite songs the way artists intended'

Spotify announced on Tuesday, February 23, that it will soon be rolling out Spotify HiFi, a feature that will allow users in select markets to upgrade their sound quality.

During Stream On, a media event wherein the audio streaming giant announced its plans for 2021, it said that it will be rolling the feature out “in select markets later this year.”

HiFi, said Spotify, was among the top requests by its users. It promises to “deliver music in CD-quality, lossless audio format to your device and Spotify Connect-enabled speakers, which means fans will be able to experience more depth and clarity while enjoying their favorite tracks.” The feature, said the tech company, will allow users to “listen to their favorite songs the way artists intended.”

Billie Eilish and FINNEAS, the Grammy award-winning brother and sister duo, were featured during this segment of Stream On.

In a pre-recorded video, the two talked about how important it was for both creators and listeners to have the option of high-quality audio. Spotify said they’re also working with the world’s top speaker manufacturers to integrate Spotify HiFi into their devices through Spotify Connect.

The company has yet to announce further details for its upcoming feature. – Rappler.com
