British singer Tom Parker of boy band The Wanted revealed that he has a grade four glioblastoma “inoperable” brain tumor, and is currently undergoing treatment.
The 32-year-old music producer shared the news on Instagram on Monday, October 12, saying that they “are all absolutely devastated but are gonna fight this all the way.”
“We don’t want your sadness, we just want love and positivity and together we will raise awareness of this terrible disease and look for all available treatment options,” he said.
In an interview with OK! Magazine, Parker said that the “worst-case scenario” diagnosis came after weeks of “unexplained seizures” and a series of tests.
“I was in shock. It’s stage four glioblastoma and they’ve said it’s terminal. It was a lot to deal with by myself. I still haven’t processed it,” Parker said.
Parker is now undergoing back-to-back chemotherapy and radiotherapy for 6 weeks at the King’s College Hospital in London.
Parker and his wife Kelsey have a young daughter named Aurelia, and a baby boy on the way.
Parker was one of the 5 members of The Wanted, who rose to fame in 2011 with their single “Glad You Came.” Other hits include “Heart Vacancy” and “All Time Low.” The group disbanded in 2014. – Rappler.com
