WATCH: Moira dela Torre performs rewritten version of ‘Paubaya’ at Noynoy Aquino’s wake

Moira dela Torre was among the singers who performed at the wake of Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III on Friday, June 25.

The singer-songwriter performed her hit “Paubaya,” rewritten especially for Noynoy.

According to Noynoy’s sister, television personality Kris Aquino, Moira rewrote the song in just 10 minutes. Moira had performed the song twice – the second time so that the lyrics could be flashed on screen for the audience to see. 

“I would like to thank both of them for the effort to be here to be able to sing for Noy, and to be able to sing for both of us,” Kris said.

“Napakaganda ng pagkagawa ni Moira (what Moira did was so beautiful) when she rewrote the lyrics because eto, na-shock tayong lahat (we were all shocked) with what happened. He, we all feel, is gone too soon,” Kris said.

“Lahat yata ng Filipino kasi na nagmahal sa kanya, konting konti sa inyo ang may alam sa pinagdaanan niya, so ito yung ating way para macomfort ang mga sarili natin because ngayon hindi na nga siya makakaranas pa ng sakit, hindi na siya mahihirapan pa, and nandun na nga siya sa mas maligayang lugar,” she continued, and thanked Moira.

“Paubaya” was written by Moira and her husband Jason Hernandez. She released the song in October 2020, as part of her album, Patawad. – Rappler.com
