Singer Erik Santos performed a version of “Our Father” during the funeral mass for former Philippine president Noynoy Aquino at the Church of the Gesu inside the Ateneo de Manila University on Saturday morning, June 26.

Erik had endorsed Noynoy’s bid for the presidency in 2010, appearing in the music video for “Hindi Ka Nag-iisa.” The 2010 video featured several personalities from the sports and entertainment industries.

“It has always been an honor to be a part of this campaign (Hindi Ka Nag-iisa) for President NoyNoy Aquino. Isang tapat at mabuting Pilipino. Maraming salamat sa iyo PNoy,” Erik wrote on Instagram.

(He was an honest and good Filipino. Thank you, PNoy.)

Other Filipino musicians who paid tribute to Noynoy include Moira dela Torre, who performed a rewritten version of her song “Paubaya” during the former president’s wake on Friday, June 25. Jaya also performed Noynoy’s favorite song,Minsan Ang Minahal Ay Ako,” which was originally sang by Celeste Legaspi.

The mass was presided by Archbishop Socrates Villegas.

The remains of the former Philippine president will be inurned at Manila Memorial Park in Sucat, Parañaque on Saturday. Noynoy, who died on June 24 due to renal disease secondary to diabetes, will be laid to rest next to his parents, democracy icons Ninoy and Cory Aquino. Rappler.com
