Singer-songwriter Zack Tabudlo has released a new single, “Iyong-Iyo” on Friday, February 12.
The song is inspired by the original song for the Thai drama Let’s Fight Ghost, which tells the story of an exorcist falling in love with a ghost.
“I wanted to take it to a different world with different styles and vibe compared to the original. It has a very slow blues-pop feel to it production wise. I wanted to go for something mellow having the foundation from the original one but has a ‘slow dance;’ feel to it instead of going full ballad,” he said.
In “Iyong Iyo” Zack sings about a love that transcends lifetimes, with lyrics brought to life by his haunting vocal runs, perfect high notes and sultry guitar riffs.
Zack shared that he also paid particular attention to the song’s album art, which is reminiscent of a comic book as it features a white blanket ghost with a heart glowing red.
“He wants to be like the ghost to really feel the same connection, with his heart glowing, symbolizing how much love he feels for the ghost.”
“Iyong-Iyo” comes ahead of his upcoming single “Elizabeth,” an 80s pop-inspired song about a Manic Pixie Dream Girl, loosely inspired by actress Liza Soberano. “Elizabeth” is set to drop on February 26.
