Masculados Dos member Ozu Ong shot dead

MANILA, Philippines – A member of the group Masculados Dos was killed early Sunday morning, August 2, shot by suspected carjackers.

According to a report from TV Patrol, Marcelo “Ozu” Ong was on his way home when he was killed by suspected carjackers. He died after being rushed to the hospital. Investigation by the police is still ongoing.

In a statement sent to ABS-CBN director Maryo J. delos Reyes, the group’s founder, said that they are requesting for prayers for Ozu’s family. 

“We shall surely miss his very energetic performances with his group, The Masculados.” 

Meanwhile in an interview with Pep, Maan Ong, Ozu’s sister said: “Wala naman kami alam na kaaway niya, ‘tsaka si Ozu, hindi na siya lumalabas ngayon, e. Lumalabas lang siya ‘pag may show, ‘pag may trabaho.

“Bahay-trabaho, bahay-trabaho, yun na lang ang gawain niya ngayon, e. Talagang nasa bahay lang siya, sa mga anak niya, yun na lang,” Maan said.

(We’re not aware that he has enemies. And Ozu, he really does not go out much. He will only go out if he has a show, if there is work. Going to and from work, that’s all he did lately. He would just stay at home and spend time with his children.)

Aside from the Masculados, Ozu also appeared in GMA 7 shows such Munting Heredera, Diva and Magpakailanman. The group was recently in Bohol for a show in celebration of the Sandugo Festival. – Rappler.com
