Maria Ozawa: Robin Padilla ‘unprofessional’ for backing out of movie project

MANILA, Philippines – Japanese star Maria Ozawa expressed her dismay after Robin Padilla announced he was pulling out of the movie Nilalang.

On Instagram, Maria said that Robin was unprofessional of backing out from the film, 10 days before shooting.

“Its not that I really wanted to film w/ Robin but i think it was so unProfessional of him to call it off 10 days before the shooting starts… I feel so sorry for the film director, staff…,” she wrote.

Some of Robin’s fans defended him, saying Maria should understand that his wife Mariel Padilla’s pregnancy is very delicate. The couple is expecting triplets.

Meanwhile, Robin did not directly respond to Maria, but a post appeared on his Instagram account.

“‘A Man who does not spend time with his family can never be a real Man’ – Vito Corleone,” he wrote.

UPDATE: In an interview with Pep, Robin’s manager Betchay Vidanes said that Robin personally sent a private message to Maria and her manager for begging off the movie.

“Personally, si Robin nag-apologize.

So, ibig sabihin, ina-accept niya na may pagkakamali siya. Anything na nag-a-apologize ka, ibig sabihin ina-accept mo may pagkakamali ka, may pagkukulang kaYun ang tingin ko dun sa apology niya,” she said.

(Personally, Robin apologized. So, that means that he likely understands that he made a mistake. When you apologize, it means you accept that you made some mistake, that you were lacking. That’s what I think about his apology.)

In an earlier Instagram post, Robin’s manager Betchay Vidanes said that Robin decided back out, because Robin wants to take care of Mariel during her pregnancy.

The MFT Group of Companies, of which Nilalang‘s production company Haunted Tower Pictures is part of, said that they will no longer finance the production of Nilalang.

Last June, Maria Ozawa came to the Philippines saying she was excited to being doing her first film in the country. Maria even said she was preparing for the role by undergoing more training. (READ: Maria Ozawa on PH showbiz career, leaving the porn industry) – Rappler.com
