MANILA, Philippines – Star Wars fans will have a new film to look out for as Lucasfilm revealed the cast of the Star Wars: Rogue One on Saturday, August 15 at the D 23 Expo. 

According to the Star Wars websiteStar Wars: Rogue One includes a formidable cast led by Oscar winner Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna, and Felicity Jones, who was nominated this year for Best Actress in The Theory of Everything.  

Bloodline star Ben Mendelsohn, Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, and Riz Ahmed are also included in the cast.

 


 

The movie will be directed Gareth Edwards, who did Godzilla and Monsters.

In a statement, Kathleen Kennedy, producer of the film said that Star Wars: Rogue One will definitely be different from the Star Wars saga.

“Rogue One takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope and will be a departure from the saga films but have elements that are familiar to the Star Wars universe,” she said. “It goes into new territory, exploring the galactic struggle from a ground-war perspective while maintaining that essential Star Wars feel that fans have come to know. Gareth is such an innovative director and I’m so excited to be working with him and the extraordinary ensemble cast he’s selected for Rogue One.”
