Zayn Malik, Calvin Harris argue on Twitter over streaming issue
Zayn tells Calvin to 'calm your knickers' in a discussion about Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus' views on music streaming

MANILA, Philippines – Calvin Harris reacted to a tweet that former One Direction member Zayn Malik posted on August 18.

Zayn originally retweeted a photo comparing Taylor Swift’s and Miley Cyrus’ stands on music streaming services. Zayn’s retweet has since been deleted, but according to Entertainment Weekly, this was the original post he had retweeted:

Taylor, who is currently dating Calvin, pulled her music off of the music streaming service Spotify in 2014, because she believed that these services negatively affect album sales and artists don’t get paid enough for having their music streamed for free. In June, she also convinced Apple to pay artists during the free 3-month trial of their music streaming service, Apple Music.

On the other hand, Miley Cyrus told W Magazine in 2014, “I’ve made my money… If no one buys my album, cool. It’s fine. I’ve got a house, and I’ve got dogs that I love. I don’t need anything else.”

Calvin then gave a series of replies, saying that these free music streaming services are unfair for other artists who are still struggling to make it.

Zayn then replied, telling Calvin that he misunderstood what he was trying to say and he should “calm his knickers.”

But Calvin later explained that he commenting on the original tweet, and not on Zayn personally.

One Direction bandmember Louis Tomlinson favorited one of Calvin’s tweets to Zayn, but things have been quiet on both Calvin and Zayn’s sides after Calvin’s last reply. In May, Louis got into a Twitter argument with music producer Naughty Boy, who was working with Zayn.
