Megan Young gets Marian Rivera’s blessing for ‘MariMar’ role

MANILA, Philippines – From one MariMar to the other: Former Miss World 2013 Megan Young tried to hold back her emotions as Marian Rivera presented her with flowers and wished her luck on her role in MariMar, which will start airing on Monday, August 24.

The meet-up of the two actresses happened Sunday, August 23, when Megan, along with her leading man Tom Rodriguez, appeared on Sunday Pinasaya to promote the show. Marian is one of the co-hosts of Sunday Pinasaya.

“Alam naman natin lahat na yung MariMar yung isa sa mga pinakaminahal ng tao na ginampanan namin dalawa ni Thalia. Kaya naman sa araw na ito, binibigay ko sa’yo ang taos puso kong pagbati sa iyo,” Marian said.

(We all know that MariMar is one of the characters that Thalia and I played that was one of the most loved by the people. And on this this day, I am giving you my blessing.)

Actress Thalia played MariMar in the original Mexican version of the show in 1994. 

After the Sunday Pinasaya show, Megan posted on Instagram a photo of her and Marian.

“Thank you so much Ate Yan @therealmarian for the kind gesture. I am trying to hide my crying face (kasi mukha akong baby pag umiiyak HAHAHAHA)! You are truly a woman beautiful inside and out. I will always keep in mind our little convo right before we got off the stage hehe! Love you and congrats to you and Kuya Dong with your baby,” Megan wrote.

Last June, GMA 7 announced that Megan will be the second Filipina actress to play the role of MariMar, which first aired in the country in the early 90s.
